![]() It takes more time to look through than Poshmark but you can get some great deals if you know what you want - also, I never shop there without a promo code. In terms of the price, I ordered a jcrew shirt this week that was still on the jcrew website. I think the trick is to search for brands where you already know what to expect in terms of size and quality, as their descriptions and pictures do truly suck. I’ve recently gotten some great deals from there. You can't easily search by 's just not very user friendly. Whenever I search by brand, people have tagged that brand for things that are not the brand at all. Depop is also directly through the seller, but I find it really obnoxious that you can only communicate with sellers through the app, there is not an option to negotiate price (at least with some sellers), and the interface is really frustrating. ![]() If it was poshmark, I would have had that whole situation settled in a week. With Vestiaire I bought something, and after two months I finally heard from Vestiaire that the seller just did not have the item (?!) to sell anymore. I got versace shoes from TRR that I knew were fake once I received them, but because everything is supposedly authenticated I could not get a refund. I prefer working with sellers directly-stuff arrives pretty quickly, and poshmark is almost always on the customer's side when things go wrong. I have not bought from thredup before, but I have had way better experiences with poshmark than Depop, TheRealReal, and Vestiaire. I'm hoping they make adjustments and we start to see improvements, because the concept of the site is great. Usually they distinguish between store brands and made-for-outlet brands on the site, but they made the mistake on 3 pieces I ordered in one shipment! I feel like the site has probably gained massive popularity in the last year or so and they haven't yet caught up. I had my first bad experience a couple weeks ago, when several items I ordered that were listed as J.Crew and Banana Republic were actually J.Crew Factory and Banana Republic Outlet- a big difference in quality. I don't have the energy/time/willpower to sell my clothes individually on a site like poshmark, so the pieces I sell on ThredUP would probably otherwise go to a donation bin. I like the ease of the interface, how I can sort by various filters, and how money I earn from selling I can apply towards new clothes. I agree with people who have said their experience with the site has declined recently, but that hasn't stopped me from using it. (Also, based on how wrinkly that slip dress is, there's a good chance it might be real silk!) But I do agree that you should go onto the site with an idea of what you're looking for-the more specific, the better-and be prepared for if something goes wrong. I've also gotten a lot of underpriced vintage on the site that I'm super happy about. I won't spend a ton of money on an item for that reason. In general I don't buy anything there that I'd regret if they sent me the wrong item or it was falsely described, i.e. ![]() You're less likely to run into those issues on ThredUp. On a site like Poshmark or Ebay sometimes you'll have photos taken in poor lighting where the color of the item is totally off. The photos may not always be the best, but I like that they are uniformly taken.Sometimes you can score a really good deal because pricing isn't as heavily based on supply/demand as it is when you shop direct (I find that individual sellers on Poshmark, Ebay, etc are more likely to do their research than a website like ThredUp).Mislabeling of the item's condition, brand, material composition, etc.Their search function sucks! You have to be really specific and make generous use of filters to find what you want.I've had both positive and negative experiences on ThredUp.
